MechCrazyCustoms TOP3 in first week! Thank You!

Thank You in behalf of all the contributors of this humble new Group Blog!

There are not much Gundam or Hobby bloggers in the Philippines in the first place though. You could visit TOPBlogs for a few of the most visited Gundam blog sites in the country, but other than the list at TOPBlogs there are not much you could find around the net that is ran by Filipinos.

So topping at TOPBlogs is not much of a feat to be honest, nevertheless it is still so gratifying to see our one week old group blog hit those marks.

Just wanted to THANK everyone who has visited our young blog so far! Hope you enjoyed your visits and return as we try to provide you interesting Gundam and Hobby related stuffs everyday. Until next update guys! Just enjoy the hobby! :)

FrancisChungFS Clear for Launching...

Greetings from Malaysia, my name is Francis as in my nick above. I guess I'm pretty new to this passion as I started Gunpla only in 2012. I am more of a straight-builder with minor touch-up on the kit if needed but keen to learn in modding if given a chance to learn. I enjoy posing the kits as much as I love to build them so articulation is a very important aspect to my choice of kits.

As I just started venturing into the world of Air-Brushing and hope to be able to share and learn more from this group. Thanks again DC23 for inviting me into this wonderful group of builders. Sieg Zeon !!!

Hello!

Hello, all! This is Richie Ramos/Lord Desslok, one of the founders of Mechapinoy. I'd like to thank Don for inviting me to this blog, and hopefully I can contribute some stuff.I started Gunpla way, way back (1990s), and my very first kit was actually a semi-bootleg 1/144 Academy Sentinel Gundam kit. After that, I bought quite a few MSV kits, most of which have, alas, not withstood the test of time. These days, I'm a bit too busy. Most of the time, I have a lot of kitbashes, but I rarely get any painting done. However, that may soon change, given that there are new winds blowing in the communities (thankfully).

I'm also interested in Kotobukiya Frame Arms kits. Cheers!

Nichols is the name

Hello kids and kids at heart! You guys probably already know me. I'm everywhere. Just kidding.
So like  what the title says, my name's Nichols. It's not an alias. It's my real name. I'd like people to know me with my real name. Thanks to DC23 for creating and gathering this new group of hobbyists. You're probably reading this blog right know because you love giant robots. Well I love giant robots too! So let's be friends, okay? Most of the work I do are painted snap-fit gunplas with some minor mods here and there. Here are some you'd probably wanna see.

These are just some of my works. You can check more of them out on my blog and my Youtube.

I can not wait to post more, but more importantly, I can not wait to read more of what the other authors on this blog have to offer, since I am more of a reader than a poster when it comes to blogs.

Thank you so much for reading this!

HELLO EVERYONE. This is DarkWorkx,
Jimmy Bautista Jr. or in Facebook, Wuji Zun Jr.

First of all, I would like to thank DC23 for inviting me on this team.

Here's a little intro about myself, I've started modding Gunpla around November 2010
My dad is a Wing/Gundam X FG/HG Kit Seller wayback when i was 7 or 8 yrs old.
And Grandpa is a modeler too, He likes Aircrafts, warmachines, etc. except Gundam/Robots.

Now I would like to share my Cherudim Saga entry last GBWC 2011, and this is my first time to use this so called, Pla-Plate.

I'm really thankful to these people who help and guide me on this build.
Next is my 1st handpainted kit, HG 1/144 AGE-2 Normal inspired by our Bro Kamm.

I'll be posting more updates about my DOM soon!~ Why Soon? because i'm still busy in our Church activities and studying Photography.

gunpla...y u no look like what i want you to?!? ='[

GUNPLA! y u no look hamazing?!?

most of us get into certain hobbies because we came across a photo and thought "yeah, i could cook that.." or "i can take better photos than this sh*t" or "yeah, i can afford to build myself a customized sniper rifle too" or "im gonna max level my character to LVL infinity in a week" or "im gonna make this SD unicorn into a BAD-A$$ mothahfutha!".

But then after a bit of tinkering we get hit smack in the face with a REALIZATION OF REALITY HAMMER. We're not new to these : "Nobody's gonna eat this muck" / "im pressing the shutter button but nothing's happening!" / "i just wasted a totally kickass stock rifle" / "my character cant even kill a wolf puppy" / my SD unicorn melted"

we end up crushed under the high expectancy that we'll create a masterpiece overnight only to have melted plastic in our hands (WITH NUBS!). then come the morrow, we go online, see an inspiring work, and get fired up again, try again, fail again. vicious cycle.

most of us would power through, buy a new kit and start again. some get fed up and go on hiatus. some would go to the extremes of selling everything and just quitting.

others just really have the right combination of uber talent, perseverance, creativity etc and come up with these : (eday's arios)

what about the rest of us though? are we consigned to quit eventually? can we not become as great? are we earthbound?

epkers not! :D but ofcourse we also cant start something today and come up with a masterpiece tomorrow. heck, even Einstein started out not knowing 1+1=2.
Hence, my point is...START WITH THE BASICS and DONT RUSH THINGS :)
elementary first, then progress, progress, progress :)

most great modelers i know started out with the easiest, most practical "mod" out there : PAINTING.

you say: "painting? meh. i want a MODDED kit man! not some repainted sh*T! just repainting doesnt make it AWESOME and at all!"

i say : GOOGLE "FICHTENFOO WING GUNDAM"

dont get too excited though, painting in itself is a tedious process that involves a lot of experimentation, spilled paint, gallons upon gallons of thinner (im kidding), and a strong nose.  BUT ITS A START.

other "modifications" include :
  • painting (as iv mentioned)
  • proportion adjustments (making legs longer, torso longer)
  • armor modifications (pla plating etc)
  • kitbashing (taking two kits and getting parts from both)
  • battle damage (wreaking havok on ur masterpiece :P)
  • scratchbuilding (making things from scratch)
  • diorama-ing :)) (making ur own "scenarios")
  • and many more!
you may do them all, or do only one, its totally up to you (and your budget). the idea is to get familiarized with a process, practice until you master it, and then explore a new skill tree and do the grind once again :)

as a newbie modder myself, i've come to enjoy painting, kitbashing, and armor tinkering myself. i prefer to keep mods as simple as possible mainly because im not as skilled as id like to be yet, but im practicing (and failing!) :p

one of my recent tinkerings involved 4 bottles of paint (tamiya acryllic bottles :P), a 10cm x 10cm piece of pla plates (WHIPS!), a scribing knife and some brushes :)) my mods mainly consisted of repurposing parts, getting weapons from other kits, and painting the build with the color scheme of an EGGPLANT :))

here! my NG 1:100 Seraphim Gundam (NG Seravee kit) aka :

The Silencer :P

ZgokDaddy diving deeper (for shellfish)

HELLO. I am ZGOK DADDY! I love Zgoks, and Im a daddy.

First of all, thanks to DC23 for inviting me as a contributor to this blog!
To my fellow contributors, wazzup?! Glad to be in such great company :)

To the readers of this blog, welcome! I know that I'm a relative newcomer to the hobby (I've only taken this hobby seriously last year 2012) and I have yet to prove my worth in terms of doing kickass mods, participating in hobby events and contests, heck I haven't even gotten around to reading most tutorials on the craft, but that is what drives me to write!

I shall step inside my Zgok Mobile Suit of Newbness and dive into the depths of the hobby! (the pressure of these depths are too damn high! but with le Zgok suit, I hope I can manage :D)

Thanks so much everyone! more power to all of us!

What an honor!

Well what an honor it is to be part of such an amazing group of modelers.  I have been thinking of doing my own blog for a while now but I was just afraid that keeping it current would be way to much work given my time restraints with family and work.  When Don asked if I would join I jumped at the chance.  I figure a blog with a bunch of modelers would be way more fun and that viewers would not have to rely on me to keep adding new content all the time.

For those of you that don't know my modeling back ground, here is a brief history. I have always built models, ever since I was about 10 or 12 but back then I would just pull the parts of the spur, and glue the pieces together.  Lets just say they were not pretty but for a 12 year old they were cool.  I hung the poorly made model airplanes from the ceiling in my room and though they were great.

I had snapped a few Gundams when I was around 15 or so when you could still get them at Walmart here in the states.  I thought they were the greatest.  You could simply snap them together and have a decent looking robot.  This was back in the early 90's.  It was during this tie that I was heavily into RC cars as well as airplanes.  I enjoyed building more than flying or racing though.

Fast forward to 2006, a wife and my 1st child.  For some reason I stumbled on a picture of a gundam model.  I start looking on the web and came across 2 forums the 1st being www.gamerabaenre.com and http://fichtenfoo.com/forum/.  I started looking through all the pictures and all the posts and I was amazed by the work I saw.  I was blown away by the detail on the models.  I spent about 6-8 months just reading and asking questions on the forums.  I bought my 1st few kits and started snapping kits and that then I discovered resin.  The 1st resin kit I bought was the 1/35 RX-78 from G-System.  I though go big or go home.

After a while I thought I better actually finish something and that's when I painted my Red Sinaju in 2008 and after it was done I was hooked.  I was able to use my previous experience I received from restoring cars and apply that to my models. My 2nd kit to finish would be my very well known 1/100 Kshatriya and I have been going ever since.

So that's a the short version.

Thank you to DC for including me into this awesome group.

Stay tuned for moret
